๐ Top Storyline: Can the City Reapers keep their Finals streak alive?
The City Reapers have made the finals in each of the last three seasons making them the most successful franchise in OTE history. However, last year marked the Reapers first time losing the title game and now they come into this season having lost their top two players: MVP runner-up Meleek Thomas (Arkansas) and DPOY Amari Evans (Tennessee). With that said, the City Reapers had maybe the best recruiting offseason of any team, bringing in two five star prospects while also bringing in a bevy of other talented players to complement their new stars ๐
The Reapers brought in two key pieces in the offseason, in Jeremy Jenkins and Gabe Nesmith, and the two of them will dictate the direction of this season. Jenkins is the 21st ranked player in the class of 2027, according to 247Sports, and he is a bruising forward who plays with unmatched physicality but still has elite touch around the rim. Nesmith is ranked 13th in the class of 2027, according to 247Sports, and he is one of the most elite bucket getters OTE has ever seen, with the ability to put the ball in the hoop from every spot on the court ๐ช
In addition to Jenkins and Nesmith, the City Reapers made a couple of other big acquisitions in the offseason. Most notably, the Reapers brought in crowd favorite Diamant Blazi in a massive trade with the Cold Hearts. Blazi plays with unparalleled energy and will add some defensive intensity and grit that the Reapers desperately need. The City Reapers also added Tyler Sutton, a class of 2028 guard who is a lights out shooter from deep and plays with a very mature style for his age ๐ค
The City Reapers arenโt all new pieces though, as they also brought back two major pieces from last seasonโs run to the OTE Finals. Kole Grandison started every game of the OTE Finals for the Reapers and is coming off of a summer where he represented OTE at ANGE and averaged 5.3 PPG and 4.7 RPG. Styles Clemmons joined the team late last season but emerged as a critical playmaker off of the bench and this season he will enter as the teamโs primary point guard ๐ช
The City Reapers will be led this season by first time Head Coach Miguel Bocachica who looks to keep the Reapers legacy alive and well. The City Reapers kick off their season on Friday, October 31 at 9 PM on OTEโs YouTube channel where they will take on the YNG Dreamerz in a rematch of last yearโs OTE Finals. Make sure to get tickets for this game and all of the rest of the Reapers games before it is too late ๐๏ธ
