Reapers Still The Team to Beat

Game Results:

๐Ÿ“ City Reapers 94, Cold Hearts 78

๐Ÿ“ Jelly Fam 83, RWE 78

The City Reapers heard all of the preseason disrespect (see their fifth place ranking in the Strictly Rankings) and showed they still belong at the top of the league with a 16-point beatdown of the Cold Hearts. The Reapers started the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back, stretching their lead out to as big as 37 during the third quarter before cruising to a victory at the end of the game ๐Ÿฅถ

For the Reapers, the lone team to go 2-0 on the weekend, five players crossed the double-digit scoring threshold as superstar Jahki Howard led the way with his 19 points, including some monstrous highlights ๐Ÿ’ช

  • Jalen Lewis had his best game of the young season posting a 12 point and ten rebound double-double

  • Other highlights for the Reapers came from Amari Evans, who was a pest on the defensive end racking up three steals

  • Parker Robinson continued his reign of terror from behind the three-point arc, as he knocked down three more triples as he shot 67% from deep this weekend

While it was a rough game for the Cold Hearts, they were happy to get Kanon Catchings back after missing the first game - he finished with a team-high 22 points. Mikel Brown Jr. continues to be a steadying presence for the Cold Hearts as well, racking up 16 points while also notching a team-high four assists ๐ŸŽฏ

The second game of the day was tight until the end as Jelly Fam put RWE away late in the fourth, 83-78, thanks to a scoring flurry spearheaded by Jelly Fam star, Ian Jackson. A mostly quiet night for Jackson became loud very quickly when he scored eight straight points in the 4th, driving the dagger deep into the heart of RWE ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ

Despite Jacksonโ€™s late game heroics, it was Jelly Famโ€™s Elijah Moore who starred for much of the night, as he scored an efficient 24 points on 60% shooting, keeping the game close through the first three quarters. Moore was also a menace on the defensive side, racking up a game-high four steals as he made life difficult for the RWE stars

Despite two strong showings on opening weekend, RWE will go into the second week of the season still searching for their first win with the team looking to prove that their preseason #1 ranking was no fluke

  • Karter Knox was dynamic per usual scoring a team-best 26 points while Jason Jackson provided a scoring spark off the bench with 15 points of his own

  • A quiet night on offense for RWEโ€™s Somto Cyril saw him score just six points, but his impact was still felt as he pulled down 16 boards and was up to his usual rim-protecting ways as he tallied five soul-snatching blocks ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

The Atlanta teams will be back in action at OTE Arena on Friday on Amazon Prime, with the City Reapers looking to remain perfect on the season. They will take on RWE at 7PM before the Cold Hearts matchup with visiting Rolling Loud at 8:30PM on YouTube
