OTE Season Opener Thrills

The OTE season kicked off on Friday evening with two exhilarating games packed with highlight plays that gave fans a promising glimpse of the season to come. This was my favorite play of the day ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Game Results:

๐Ÿ“ Cold Hearts 92, RWE 90

๐Ÿ“ City Reapers 91, Jelly Fam 82

The second game of the evening between Cold Hearts and RWE was a thriller that came down to the closing seconds, with the Cold Hearts taking the win 92-90, thanks to an impressive final defensive stand ๐Ÿ•’

  • The game looked to be finished with the Cold Hearts up 13 with just under two and a half minutes remaining in the game, however, RWE wasnโ€™t ranked first in the preseason Strictly Rankings for nothing, as they brought the game all the way back within one thanks to a big time triple from Karter Knox with eight seconds left to play

  • A 1-for-2 trip to the line from the Cold Hearts Trey Parker put the ball back in RWEโ€™s hands down two with just over five seconds remaining in the game

  • The ball was inbounded to RWEโ€™s Nathan Missia-Dio who attempted a turn-around three but was smothered by the Cold Hearts Parker.

  • An offensive board from Somto Cyril gave RWE one last opportunity to knot the game up but his attempt fell just short giving the Cold Hearts their first win of the season in an absolutely dynamite game ๐Ÿงจ

The two star guards for the Cold Hearts, Adam Oumiddoch and Mikel Brown Jr., were unstoppable as they combined for 49 points in leading the team to victory over RWE 83-72 โญ

  • Oumiddoch was unstoppable in the first half, scoring 17 points on a crisp 4/7 shooting from the field, including a perfect 7-of-7 at the line

  • Brown took on the brunt of the scoring in the second half, as he tallied 18 points including going deep into his bag to go 3-of-4 from behind the arc, propelling the Cold Hearts to a victory

RWE had five players reach double-digit scoring, as Daquon Davis led the way with a cool 21 points, while Knox scored 20 of his own. Reigning OTE Defensive Player of the Year, Somto Cyril, was unstoppable as always posting a double-double of 17 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks ๐Ÿ”’

In the OTE season opener, the City Reapers showed off why they are the OTE reigning champion, as they got things started with a resounding 20-4 lead in the first quarter. Bryson Tiller and Jah Jackson were the Reapers leading scorers, each tallying 14 points

  • Tiller was everywhere on the court, posting a double-double with ten rebounds and also locking up Jelly Fam star, Ian Jackson, holding him to just 14 points on a measly 20% shooting from the floor and blocking him three times

Despite the early deficit, Jelly Fam clawed all the way back to within four points heading into the fourth quarter thanks to 19 points from Syracuse commit Elijah Moore. Jelly Famโ€™s comeback attempt was short lived, as the Reapers Parker Robinson knocked down three triples in the first four minutes of the final frame to put the City Reapers back up by 12. Jaeden Mustaf orchestrated the offense brilliantly all night long, leading all players with seven assists while also pouring in 11 points
