๐ Top Storyline: Can the Dreamerz repeat without the OTE GOAT, Eli Ellis?
The YNG Dreamerz had a storybook season in 2024-25, winning the OTE Championship on a buzzer beater from the greatest player in OTE history, Eli Ellis. The Dreamerz will be riding the good vibes of their championship into this season, however, they enter 2025-26 with a very different team than the one that won the first championship in program history. The Dreamerz return just two players from last yearโs title winning team and will need to undergo a major recalibration with the losses of Ellis (South Carolina) and Kohl Rosario (Kansas). Not all of their best players were lost though, as Isaac Ellis, Eliโs younger brother, returns and looks to prove that he is more than capable of carrying the team without his decorated brother ๐
Ellis was an instrumental part of the Dreamerz championship run, starting every single game and averaging 16.1 PPG, 4.7 APG and 1.7 SPG in the playoffs. Ellis brings elite defensive playmaking skills to the table, finishing as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year and entering this season as the presumptive favorite for the award. With the massive scoring holes left behind from last yearโs roster, it will fall squarely on Ellisโ shoulders to pick up that slack. Also returning from last yearโs roster is big man Jones Lay, who only played in three games last year, but after committing to Florida in the offseason, will look to take on a vastly expanded role entering this year ๐
Ellis and Lay wonโt be solely responsible for the success of the team this year, as the Dreamerz brought in some major talent upgrades. First and foremost, the YNG Dreamerz added the Trusedale twins, Dereon and Dre, two postgraduate guards who are well-seasoned and will make an instant impact on winning. Dereon and Dre have never not played together, most recently carrying Bishop Luers to a Sectional championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Truesdale twins are set to be the next great OTE twins, following in the footsteps of the Thompson twins ๐ฌ
On top of the Truesdale twins, the YNG Dreamerz also added two other critical pieces in Kmajay Jenkins and Marcus Zelee. Jenkins is a 6-6 guard from the class of 2027 who is coming off of a season in which he was named to the 4A All-State Team in South Carolina and becomes the highest ranked signee in Dreamerz history. Zelee is a 3-star guard in the class of 2026 who is immediately the bounciest athlete on the team ๐ฐ
The Dreamerz fearless leader, Jeremy Ellis, returns this season and is hungry for more after capturing the first title of his coaching tenure. The YNG Dreamerz debut in Atlanta at 9 PM on Friday, October 31st so make sure to snag tickets for the game before they are all gone ๐๏ธ
