The Second Round of the Pokemon Playoffs will commence on Friday at 7 PM on Prime Video with a spicy matchup of two underdogs: the #8 Cold Hearts and #4 Blue Checks. The Cold Hearts came into the playoffs seeded dead last and pulled off a shocking 110-71 blowout victory over the Diamond Doves to advance to the Second Round. The Blue Checks meanwhile have been stumbling of late, losing their last four games of the regular season and are now looking to get right in the playoffs. The Blue Checks are 2-0 against the Cold Hearts this season but required a Kaden Magwood game-winner to get them through their first matchup ๐Ÿ•

The Cold Hearts are gelling at the right time, winning two of their three final regular season games, including a bonkers overtime win against the top seeded YNG Dreamerz and that momentum has carried into the playoffs thus far. Adam Oumiddoch is on an absolute heater, dropping a game-high 27 points in the Cold Hearts first round win. Meanwhile, Marcus Gillespie, who finished out the season as the leagueโ€™s top three pointer shooter (43.1% from beyond the arc), dropped a cold stat line of 19 points, seven assists and five boards against the Doves ๐Ÿ‘Œ

The Blue Checks have been reeling recently but they have the pieces to make a deep postseason run. Josiah Parker was just named OTEโ€™s Most Underrated player and itโ€™s not hard to see why. Parker came into the year as an unranked prospect and finished the season as one of just two players to land in the top ten in PPG (21.9 PPG, 5th), RPG (9.9 RPG, 1st) and APG (4.0 APG, 10th). The Blue Checks other star, Kaden Magwood, comes into this series with a major chip on his shoulder after he was snubbed from the All-OTE Team. Magwood was the leagueโ€™s third leading scorer at 24.7 PPG and hit two separate game-winners ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The other Second Round matchup is between #3 RWE and #6 Fear of God Athletics and kicks off on Friday night at 9 PM on YouTube. RWE holds a 2-1 edge in the series against FOGA and won their most recent matchup handily 96-78. However, RWE comes into this series down All-OTE and MVP second runner-up Taylen Kinney who will miss this series ๐Ÿค•

RWE is led by Jasper Johnson who is coming off being named to the All-OTE Team after becoming just the second player in OTE history to finish a season averaging 20+ PPG, 5+ RPG and 5+ APG. RWE will look for Parker Robinson and Keshawn Fisher to step up into bigger scoring roles this weekend. RWE has had the best offense in the league and their fast pace style of play lends itself well to a series against Fear of God Athletics who give up the fifth most PPG ๐Ÿ’จ

Shon Abaev has been on another planet as a scorer recently, dropping 29 points in FOGAโ€™s First Round win over Jelly Fam. Abaev was named to the All-OTE Team after having already been recognized as one of the finalists for the OTE MVP award. Serving as Abaevโ€™s sidekick, sophomore Cayden Daughtry balled out in the First Round, scoring 17 of his 18 points in the second half. FOGA will lean heavily on the two of them to pull off the upset and advance to the semi-finals ๐Ÿ˜ค
