๐ Top Storyline: Are RWE your title favorites this season?
Last year, RWE had an excellent regular season, finishing 14-6 and in third in the league, however, it all came crashing down in the quarterfinals with a stunning loss to Fear of God Athletics. Well RWE took that loss personally and now they enter this season with what is quite possibly the best roster they have ever assembled. RWE is, of course, led by superstar and presumptive MVP favorite, Taylen Kinney, who is burdened with the weight of massive expectations but if there is anyone who can exceed those expectations it is him ๐ค
Kinney returns this year after finishing as the second runner-up for MVP last season when he closed out the season as one of just three players to finish top eight in the league in both points (20.1 PPG) and assists (5.0 APG). Kinney also made a name for himself as the most efficient guard in league history, rounding out the year with a true shooting percentage of 63.1% on massive volume. Kinney wonโt have his star backcourt running mate this season, as Jasper Johnson has departed to Kentucky. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, Kinney comes into this season with hopes of righting past wrongs and leading RWE to their first championship in program history ๐
Kinney isnโt the only star returner for RWE though, as they also bring back elite shooter Parker Robinson and the bounciest man alive, Romelo Hill. Robinson was a quintessential glue guy for RWE, averaging 14.1 PPG, 4.7 RPG and 2.7 APG in 19 games played. Robinsonโs floor spacing and increased passing acumen make him an ideal fit on any team. Hill is one of the longest tenured players at OTE, entering his third season in the league, and he has improved immensely as a ball-handler and playmaker for RWE and will be a critical piece for RWE this year ๐ฐ
However, what separates RWE from the pack is the amount of studs they added in the offseason. First and foremost is Kam Mercer who is a 6-5 guard that is ranked fifth in the class of 2028, according to ESPN. Mercer is set to be the future of OTE, as he is capable of using his elite size for a guard to get to the rim at will and break down opposing defenses. Also joining RWE this year is Mathias Vazquez who is a Brazilian forward who enters the league as one of the best international prospects in all of high school basketball. Vazquez is quietly building up quite the profile and will likely find himself in contention for many postseason awards ๐ง๐ท
RWE wasnโt done there though as they also brought in some elite role players to fill out their starting lineup and bolster their bench. Clyde Walters, a forward who is ranked 69th in the class of 2027, enters the season as RWEโs primary ball-stopper as he has elite hands and defensive instincts. Peyton Miller, who recently committed to play at George Mason, is a perfect point guard for this team, as he will keep the offense organized and calm things down when things start to go awry ๐๏ธ
RWE continues to be led by their fearless leader Corey Frazier who is entering his third season as the head coach of the squad. RWEโs season opens on Friday, October 31 at 7 PM with a duel against the Cold Hearts that you can watch on OTEโs YouTube channel. Make sure to buy tickets for that game and all the rest of RWEโs games on the OTE website before itโs too late ๐๏ธ
