OTE’s McDonald’s All-Americans

John Bol, Ian Jackson and Karter Knox were selected to compete in the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game on April 2nd in Houston. An honor reserved for the top high school basketball players in the class, this is the first year that Overtime Elite players have been eligible to be selected 🍔

“As a former McDonald’s All-American, I know first hand how much this honor means to these young men”, General Manager and Head of Basketball Damien Wilkins said

“Overtime Elite and McDonald’s worked together to make sure that our players were eligible this year going forward, and to have three young men selected in our first year says a lot about their character and work ethic, but also the development and exposure they are getting in our league. We couldn’t be prouder of these young men and look forward to our players being selected for years to come.”

RWE’s Karter Knox has had a spectacular season for RWE thus far, as he has stepped up as the leader for the injury-riddled team. Through ten games this season, Knox leads RWE in scoring at 21.2 PPG, which is third highest scoring average in the league. Knox has topped 20 points in seven out of ten contests this season, while also scoring a career-high 34 points in the team’s best win of the season over the YNG Dreamerz

On top of his elite scoring prowess, Knox is also one of OTE’s premiere rebounders for his position, as he pulls down 6.5 RPG, a top ten mark in the league. Knox, the younger brother of the Detroit Pistons Kevin Knox, is a difference maker on the defensive end as well, using his athletic tools to rack up 1.2 SPG and 0.7 BPG

“It’s an honor to be selected to be a part of the McDonald’s All-American team - it’s something that I’ve wanted to be a part of since I started playing basketball”, Knox said. “I’ve worked really hard and continued to develop, so it’s really nice to see that pay off. Over the next two months, I hope to win an OTE championship and bring that same energy to Houston in April for the game.”

The Cold Hearts' John Bol has come into his own this season, settling into his role as a stellar defensive disruptor and one of the top rebounders in the league. Bol sits at third in the league with 9.9 RPG, which includes an 18 rebound effort, the second most in a single game this season, in the Cold Hearts game against Jelly Fam in early January

  • Bol dominates the paint in every game he plays and that shows best in his block numbers for the season. Through 11 games, Bol is blocking 2.1 shots per game, which is the third best mark in the league and includes a five-game streak of three or more blocks

  • Bol also stands as one of OTE’s most efficient scorers, as he sits seventh in the league (min. 25 attempts) in field goal percentage, as he has knocked down a phenomenal 56.3% of his shots this season

“When I first came to the US and started taking basketball seriously, becoming a McDonald’s All-American was something I always had in the back of my mind”, Bol said. “This moment feels surreal and is a direct result of all the hard work I’ve been putting in over the past couple of years. Being one of the first players from OTE selected is really cool, and I can’t wait to play in April.”

Ian Jackson is at the helm of one of the hottest teams in the league, as he has led Jelly Fam to a current four-game winning streak and a top-four record in the league. In helping lead Jelly Fam to a strong start to the season, Jackson has distinguished himself as one of the league's best scorers, as he sits second in the league in scoring average through ten games with a mark of 24.8 PPG

  • Jackson has scored over 20 points in all but two games this year and has crossed the 30-point threshold twice. Over the course of Jelly Fam’s current season-changing four-game winning streak, Jackson scored 24 to defeat the league’s number two team the YNG Dreamerz, before dropping 28 points to down the league’s top team the City Reapers

  • Jackson has made his presence felt on the defensive end as well, as he is top ten in the league in steals with 1.6 SPG

“I’ve dreamed of being a McDonald’s All-American my entire life. I’m honored to be chosen among so many incredible athletes”, Jackson said. “I want to thank my coaches, trainers, teammates and family for helping me be my best.”

“As a long-time recruiter in the grassroots space, I know how important this selection is for players”, Director of Recruiting and Retention Aki Collins said. “Having three young men selected to participate in this McDonald’s All-American game signals to the marketplace that not only can we create a highly-competitive and engaging league, but that we are also developing players at a high level for the next phase of their career.”
