This weekend’s games are all about the fight for survival, as three of the four teams in action are fighting for their playoff lives. The game of the week comes in the form of the Blue Checks against the City Reapers, a matchup that features two teams trying to overcome hardships to get back to the playoffs 😱

For the first time in OTE history, thanks to the league’s expansion to nine teams, there will be one team who doesn’t make the playoffs and everyone is fighting tooth and nail to make sure they aren’t the first team ever to miss the playoffs. As things stand right now, the City Reapers are 1-9 and are currently dead last in the standings with a 75.7% chance of becoming the first team to miss the playoffs. This is a far cry from the City Reapers team we have grown accustomed to. The Reapers had the best all-time regular season record heading into this season at 55-19 and had made the OTE Finals the last three seasons 🥀

The Reapers played the Blue Checks last week and lost by four but two critical things have changed since that last meeting. First off is the City Reapers were without star forward Jeremy Jenkins in that first meeting. Jenkins is slated to return to the lineup and as the team’s second leading scorer (17.6 PPG) and leading rebounder (7.6 RPG) he will be a welcome addition back into the lineup. On the other side of the ball, Yohance Connor, OTE’s third leading scorer this season (26.0 PPG), will not be playing in either of the games for the Blue Checks this weekend. The Blue Checks are 0-2 with Connor out of the lineup this season. If the Reapers were ever set up to get a key victory this would be the time to do so 👀

Elsewhere this weekend, the YNG Dreamerz take on Jelly Fam in the second game on Friday evening. MVP frontrunner and YNG Dreamerz superstar, Isaac Ellis has been in the news lately, as he reclassified from the class of 2026 to 2027 and committed to play for the Louisville Cardinals 🐦

The Saturday slate of games kicks off with a finals rematch between the YNG Dreamerz and the City Reapers. While this has been a storied rivalry for years now, these two teams have gone in completely opposite directions with the Dreamerz sitting right near the top of the league while the Reapers have shockingly become basement dwellers in the standings. The last game of the weekend is an important matchup for seeding between the Blue Checks and Jelly Fam 💪
