The OTE Dream Tryout Preview

The third annual OTE Dream Tryout is just around the corner and with it another exceptional group of 20 talented young players are hungry to prove they deserve a spot at OTE this upcoming season. The OTE Dream Tryout will take place on Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23 with the final decision on which player (or players 👀) will become a part of OTE coming on Thursday night 🔥

The OTE Dream Tryout has produced some elite OTE talent in the past and this year should be no different. Last year’s winner Trae Nunn became an OTE champion in his first year in the league, playing an important role for FaZe on their run to the title. The inaugural OTE Dream Tryout winner, Marcus Gillespie, played two years with the Cold Hearts and established himself as one of the league’s premiere three point shooters in his time at OTE 😴

The first player of note at this year’s tryout is Jarrett Harris who is a 6-5 forward from Indianapolis, IN. Harris is a talented player in his own right but he also has basketball royalty in his blood. Harris is the nephew of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and he hopes to make his uncle proud by earning a spot at OTE this season 🚂

Canadian baller Deo Dixon has been trying to make his way into OTE for years and has an entire instagram account dedicated to his grind. Dixon isn’t the only Canadian hooper trying to earn his place at OTE, as Sha-Cure Grant is also vying for a spot after spending his summer traveling 26 hours every weekend to level up his game on NY Rens. Nelson Saurel is another player who has been posting for years just waiting for his opportunity to make OTE 🇨🇦

Elijah King has been grinding all his life for this opportunity and with over 1,200 career points already to his name he has more than earned his spot at this tryout. In addition, King’s high school teammate at Eagle Academy, Denim Trotman, will also be competing at the OTE Dream Tryout for a coveted spot at OTE 👑

In the lead up to the Dream Tryout, popular OTE figures D’Aydrian, Cam Wilder and Drifty hosted regional tryouts for hoopers around the nation to earn a spot at the OTE Dream Tryout. At D’Aydrian’s tryouts in Kansas, two players stood out and earned their spots at the OTE Dream Tryout: Karson Miles and Sebastian Hines-Turner. Miles is a 6-8 power forward from Maize, Kansas who will be one of the biggest players in attendance at the Dream Tryout. Hines-Turner has overcome a massive amount of adversity in his career, rupturing his achilles before coming back the next year to win the Kansas state championship 🌽

Nigel Broome, a 6-0 point guard from Dalton, Georgia, won Cam Wilder’s tryout and is a dual sport athlete known for his football prowess as well. The final winner of one of the regional tryouts was Ezrah Kaheaku, who is a 6-3 guard from California that won Drifty’s tryout 🤯

With FaZe having the most dominant season in OTE history it makes sense that there would be some representation from Texas at the tryout. Kyle Amadi is a three-star scoring guard from Austin, Texas who is coming off of summer where he averaged 16.8 PPG on the 16U Nike EYBL circuit. Rylan Austin is a 6-0 guard from Dallas, Texas who is a defensive pest who has some playmaking chops on the other end of the court 🤠

The OTE Dream Tryout will feature a couple of standout shooters as well. Steven Sun has the most prolific shooting resume of everyone at the tryout after a summer in which he shot 52% from 3 on the Nike EYBL 16U circuit. Thomas Wolf is a high volume shooter with some size who shot 39% from 3 this summer 🎯

Four Georgia standouts earned invites to the tryouts as well. David Whitaker is one of the springiest 15 year olds in the country and received his invite to the tryout personally from Sniper Jones. MJ Curry, who is from Loganville, Georgia, is the highest ranked player at the tryout, coming into the event as the 70th ranked player in the class of 2027 according to 247Sports. Kenneth Phillips Jr. is a strong post player in the class of 2029 who is known for his intensity in the paint. Lastly, Jaylen Williams is from just down the road from OTE playing his most recent season at McNair High School in Atlanta 🍑

The final two players participating in the OTE Dream Tryout have very different skill sets but both make their marks on the defensive end. Alvin-Aaden Walters is a scrappy guard who might be the best on-ball point of attack defender at the tryout. Maddox Lazor is a traditional rim protecting big man who spent the summer playing for AZ Unity, an elite team on the adidas 3SSB circuit 🔒
