Thomas, Abaev Named to McDAAG
The McDonald’s All-American Game announced the 24 players who will be taking part in this year's game on Monday afternoon and Overtime Elite had two players named to the roster. The City Reapers' Meleek Thomas and Fear of God Athletic’s Shon Abaev were both named as 2025 McDonald’s All-Americans 🍔
Meleek Thomas is one of the front-runners for OTE MVP this season, scoring 26.5 PPG, which is the second most of any player in the league. Thomas has been the leader all season for the City Reapers, who are 11-5 and second in the league standings after downing RWE this past weekend 💀
Thomas has scored 30+ points in six games this season, scoring a career-high 39 points against the Blue Checks on December 21. On top of his scoring prowess, Thomas is also one of the league’s best assist men, averaging 4.6 APG which is the seventh most of any player at OTE. Thomas’ 8.5 rebounds per game are the fifth most of any player this season 🪣
Shon Abaev has been excellent in his first year at OTE, averaging 24.1 PPG, the fourth most in the league which is why he was named one of the eight finalists for the OTE MVP award. Abaev scored 42 points in Fear of God Athletics’ win over the Cold Hearts back in November, which is tied for the sixth most any player has ever scored in a game at OTE 😇
Abaev’s all-around skill set has been on display for FOGA, as he is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game, a top-ten mark at OTE. Abaev is also one of the league’s most elite defenders, as evidenced by his 2.0 steals per game which is the sixth most in the league 🔒
Abaev and Fear of God Athletics next take the court on February 4 in Lake Worth Beach when they take on the YNG Dreamerz. Thomas and the City Reapers are off for two weeks before they take on Jelly Fam on February 7 at 9:00 PM at OTE Arena on Prime Video 📱
